David Askenazi

Brief Bio

 

David Askenazi was born in Mexico City and grew up in El Paso, Texas. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.  He completed his pediatric residency at the Austin Pediatric Education Program in Austin, Texas and his pediatric nephrology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital. He joined the faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2005 as Assistant Professor, where he also earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Research.  He has achieved the academic Professor and holds the Charles W Mayer Endowed Chair in Pediatric Nephrology. He is Medical Director of the Pediatric and Infant Center for Acute Nephrology (PICAN), is the founder and Board President for the Neonatal Kidney Collaborative and is the founder and Chief Scientific Officer for Zorro-Flow Inc.
