Rachel Kassel is an associate professor of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Alabama Birmingham. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia, medical and doctoral training at the University of Virginia, and pediatrics residency and GI fellowships at Washington University in St. Louis. She joined UAB in 2013. Her clinical niche within GI lies in feeding, malnutrition, complex care, and aerodigestive disorders. She is the GI director of a robust Aerodigestive program, was previously medical director of the Children’s of Alabama intensive feeding program and currently leads a multidisciplinary feeding clinic. She also serves as Chair of the Children’s of Alabama CME committee and outpatient clinical director for GI. She is active in NASPGHAN and IAPFS (international association of pediatric feeding and swallowing which she invites everyone to join).
