Dr. Rob Russell is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in the Division of Pediatric Surgery.  He graduated from Washington and Lee University and the Medical University of South Carolina.  He completed his General Surgery residency at Vanderbilt Medical University and a fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, IndianaDuring his general surgery research time, he obtained his Masters in Public Health and Vanderbilt University. He performs clinical and translational research with a specific focus on trauma induced coagulopathy. He serves as the Director of Pediatric Trauma Services at Children’s of Alabama.  Dr. Russell is on the Pediatric Surgery Advisory Council for the American College of Surgeons, has been recently elected as the Treasurer of the Pediatric Trauma Society, and recently appointed as the Vice-Chair of the Alabama Committee on Trauma.
