Betsy Hopson has a Master’s of Science in Healthcare Management and has been the Spina Bifida Program Coordinator at Children’s of Alabama and the University of Alabama at Birmingham for the past 12 years.  Prior to her role at COA, she was the Program Coordinator of the Hemophilia Program at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.  She has spent her career in developing population specific programs using the multidisciplinary clinic model.  In addition to handling all aspects of case management,  she has developed teaching tools, transition guidelines and protocols, and clinic flow operation changes while participating in numerous published research projects.  She has also worked with the CDC in the development and initiation of both the National Spina Bifida Patient Registry project and the National Hemophilia patient registry project. She also currently serves as the President of the Spina Bifida Association of Alabama.
