Dr. Pettignano is the Medical Director of the Health Law Partnership (HeLP) in Atlanta and Professor of Pediatrics at Emory University.  He serves on the local Advisory Council for HeLP, the board of the HeLP Foundation and is the Chairman of the Advisory Council for the National Center for Medical Legal Partnerships.

Dr. Pettignano graduated from Iona College in New York with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. He taught high school biology at his alma mater for two years before attending and graduating from medical school at Ross University, Dominica, West Indies.

Dr. Pettignano completed his pediatric residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, NJ, his pediatric critical care fellowship at Egleston Children’s Hospital at Emory University, and his MBA at Kennesaw State University. Dr. Pettignano has practiced both in the private and academic sectors. He was elected to the American College of Critical Care in 2000, and has been recognized by the Emory University and Orlando Regional Healthcare pediatric residents as Teacher of the Year.
