Overview
The Advanced Practice Provider's 2024 Pharmacology Conference is the perfect conference for the new, inexperienced provider as well as the seasoned provider who wants to learn the most up-to-date treatments for a variety of subspecialty diagnoses. Topics include Pediatric Thrombosis Management, Current Therapies for Allergies and Asthma, Immunosuppressants versus Immunomodulators, Antidepressants and Toxicities in Pediatric Patients, SVTs and Medication Treatments, Treatment and Management of Pediatric Thyroid Conditions, and Pediatric ADHD Therapies and Treatments.

Objectives
  1. Recognize contraindications and side effects of anticoagulant therapies in children
  2. Recognize and treat anaphylaxis due to food allergies; identify the different available treatments of asthma and their side effects including SABA, ICS, LABAS, LAMAS and biologics; and select the most efficacious treatment of rhinitis and discuss risks/benefits and side effects of each.
  3. Discuss differences between mechanisms of action of different therapies that affect the immune system and provide examples from a variety of clinical scenarios.
  4. Didactic will encourage audience participation as mechanisms and side effects of antidepressants, antipsychotics, lithium, benzodiazepine toxicity is discussed. Particular attention will be paid to encouraging the participant to understand serotonin syndrome and neuroleptic malignant syndrome.
  5. Review medical options for the short-term, medium-term and long-term management of SVT including first-line and second-line treatment options.
  6. Explain various forms of thyroid hormone replacement and identify proper administration of each. Explain management of thyroid hormone suppression and treatment of thyroid cancer.
  7. Recommend and/or prescribe appropriate pharmacological and psychological treatments for pediatric patients with ADHD.
