Overview
Sleep is an activity that everyone is familiar with, but few have up-to-date education about pediatric sleep problems, diagnostics, therapies and the latest sleep research. There are fewer than 400 board certified pediatric sleep physicians in the US (personal communication with ABP). Pediatric residents receive a mean of 4.8 hours of instruction about sleep topics during residency training with a median of pediatric residents receiving 0 hours of formal instruction. Additionally, sleep problems are widespread with an incidence of up to 50% in infants, 25-30% in toddlers, 30% among preschoolers, 37% in school-aged patients and 20% in adolescents 
Objectives

Upon completion of this live activity, participants will be able to:


  1. Utilize state-of-the-art research studies to formulate patient management decisions.
  2. Describe the pathophysiology underlying human diseases.
  3. For those areas without clear management options in the literature, to discuss and debate management decisions for specific patients.
