Overview
Although there are webinars for managing immune-suppressed patients with CMV, no webinar or educational video addressing congenital CMV is currently available to healthcare providers. The goal of this educational video is to increase knowledge of cCMV among physicians who care for women and children in Alabama.
Objectives

Upon completion of educational activity, participants will be able to:
  1. List preventive measures to reduce the risk of CMV infection to pregnant women and women planning to become pregnant.
  2. Recognize signs of CMV infection in the neonate.
  3. Review current diagnostic and treatment recommendations for the neonate.
  4. Outline follow-up recommendations for congenital CMV-positive children with and without sensorineural hearing loss.

Accreditation

Children's of Alabama designates this Enduring Material for a maximum of 0.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Children’s of Alabama is accredited by the Medical Association of the State of Alabama to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

You are being invited to participate in a UAB research project designed to evaluate 
1. Healthcare providers’ levels of knowledge regarding congenital Cytomegalovirus (CMV)
2. The effectiveness of a CMV educational program for Pediatricians and other healthcare providers
All study activities take place online at this Children’s of Alabama (COA) CME website. Participation includes the following:
1. Pre-test
2. CME lecture about CMV
3. Post-test
Participation, including all 3 activities, will take approximately 30 minutes. After completion of these activities, you will be eligible to receive 0.5 CME through COA.
Participation in this research project is voluntary. Completing the study activities will imply your consent for participation. 
If you are a UAB student or employee, taking part in this research is not a part of your UAB class work or duties. You can refuse to participate with no effect on your class standing, grades, or job at UAB. You will not be offered or receive any special consideration if you take part in this research.
There is no foreseeable risk for participation in this research project. The only alternative to participating in this educational project is not to participate.
For confidentiality and for the purposes of this research, no names or other personally identifying information will be recorded or linked to pre and post test results.
